Nigeria, Hungary university explore more scholarship opportunities for students

The University of Dunaújváros in Hungary has hosted Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, Abasi Braimah Ogwime, as part of efforts to expand scholarship and educational opportunities for Nigerian students.

The visit, organised by the Embassy of Nigeria in Hungary, formed part of its ongoing school visitation and promotion of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme.

Ogwime led the Nigerian delegation, which included the embassy’s Social Secretary, Dr Erika Madarász, and Daniel Etawo. They were received by the university’s management team led by the Vice-Rector for Institutional Development and General Affairs, Dr Mónika Rajcsányi-Molnár.

Other university officials at the meeting included the Vice-Rector for Education, Dr László Balázs; Director of International Relations, Kitti Szabó; Director of Strategic Relations, József Fritz; and Social Relations Officer, Csaba Papp.

During the engagement, the university officials briefed the delegation on its international degree programmes, scholarship opportunities under the Stipendium Hungaricum scheme and support services available to international students.

The delegation also toured the university’s facilities, including its laboratories, where members interacted with lecturers and Nigerian students to gain first-hand insight into the institution’s academic environment and student experiences.

The university disclosed that 11 Nigerian students were currently enrolled at the institution, six of whom were beneficiaries of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme.

Most of the Nigerian students are studying Computer Engineering, while others are pursuing degrees in Business Administration and Management, as well as Communication and Media Science.

The embassy said the visit was part of its sustained efforts to strengthen academic cooperation between Nigeria and Hungary and secure more educational and professional training opportunities for Nigerian youths.

The initiative is also expected to deepen institutional partnerships and encourage more Nigerian students to explore Hungary’s scholarship programmes and higher education opportunities.
