Nigerian innovator Gideon Oluwatobi wins London award for ChildShield AI

Nigerian innovator Gideon Oluwatobi, founder of Futur3Pr3dict Enterprises, has received an award for reaching the grand finale of the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026, held at ExCeL London, United Kingdom.

Oluwatobi, who represented Ogun State, was among 298 Nigerian innovators selected from approximately 3,000 applicants across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He received the award in London from the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina.

He was recognised for developing ChildShield AI, an innovation designed to support child safety, education and overall development. The technology seeks to address challenges including career uncertainty, online safety threats, physical abuse, difficulties with school subjects, emotional and mental well-being, and limited access to mentorship.

The event, organised by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) under its Director-General, Dr. Kareem Raji, brought together Nigerian innovators, investors and international stakeholders to explore opportunities for technology commercialisation and global partnerships.

Also in attendance was Hon. Tunde Doherty, Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom and Executive Director of UKALD. He highlighted the commercial potential of Nigerian innovations and called for increased investment in the country’s technology sector.

Developed by Futur3Pr3dict Enterprises, ChildShield AI aligns with Nigeria’s priorities in education, digital transformation and human capital development under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Oluwatobi’s recognition underscores the potential of homegrown Nigerian innovations to address critical challenges affecting children while creating opportunities for the country’s technology sector to attract investment, build international partnerships and contribute to national development.
