Arewa poetry challenge moves to North-Central October 17

The MPS Media Poetry Challenge 2026 – Arewa Edition will move to the North-Central zone, with young poets scheduled to showcase their talents in Keffi, Nasarawa State, beginning October 17.

The zonal stage, which follows the North-East and North-West editions, will hold at New Keffi Hotel, Keffi, with activities spanning three stages: blind auditions on October 17, battle rounds on October 20 and the knockout stage on October 23.

The competition is designed to provide young people with a platform to express their creativity, showcase their cultural identity and use poetry to address issues affecting society.

According to Professor Ahmed Adamu, Founder and CEO of MPS Media and Initiator of the MPS Media Poetry Challenge, the initiative goes beyond a conventional poetry competition, offering participants an opportunity to inspire others, build connections and contribute to positive social change through spoken word and creative expression.

He said the programme also seeks to promote peace, cultural awareness and a sense of purpose among young people by encouraging them to tell their stories and communicate ideas through poetry.

Admission to the North-Central zonal stages is free, with members of the public invited to attend and support the participating poets.

The competition will determine the contestants who advance from the North-Central zone to the regional finals scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The MPS Media Poetry Challenge 2026 – Arewa Edition is anchored on the theme of transforming words into action, with the organisers seeking to demonstrate how creative expression can amplify young people’s voices and contribute to societal development.

The North-Central stage is expected to bring together emerging poetic talents from across the region as the competition continues its journey towards the Abuja finals.
