Nigerian ambassador to Mali presents letter of credence

The Ambassadors-Designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Mali, Ambassador Geoffrey Ijomah David Chima has presented copies of his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali, on Thursday, 6 August 2026, in Bamako, Mali.

A statement from the Nigerian foreign affairs said protocol formalities were followed by bilateral discussion on prospects for strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest between both countries.

“The exchanges underscored the need to further invigorate diplomatic consultation mechanisms in order to foster a fruitful and mutually beneficial South-South cooperation,” the statement read in part.

“With regard to the evolving geopolitical dynamics in the sub-region, particular emphasis was placed on security issues related to the fight against terrorism, as well as on the importance of strengthening solidarity, constructive political dialogue, and mutual trust among States to effectively address shared challenges.”
