Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the State of Qatar, has formally presented his letters of credence to Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The presentation took place on July 2nd 2026 at the Amiri Diwan in Doha accompanied by senior Embassy officials, a statement by the foreign affairs ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa said. The ceremony featured full diplomatic honours, including the inspection of the Guard of Honour.
The Nigerian Ambassador thereafter held a private audience with the Amir, where he received a cordial welcome and reaffirmed the enduring bilateral ties between Nigeria and Qatar. The Amir referenced previous high-level diplomatic exchanges and emphasised Qatar’s intent to deepen cooperation with Nigeria.
Ambassador Yakubu conveyed the greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Amir and people of Qatar and reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between the countries.
The Ambassador Yakubu also seized the occasion to condole the Amir over the recent accident at the Ras Laffan Industrial City and buttressed the need to deepen cooperation in the area of trade, investment, education, security and humanitarian affairs.
